The closest estimate of the Exodus of Moses and the children of Israel must be viewed through the biblical accounts rather than folklore or Hollywood movies.
The accounts in 1 Kings 6:1; Judges 11:26; Acts 13:19, places the event 480 years before the construction of Solomon's Temple, making the Exodus at c. 1446 BC.
In spite of Hollywood depictions, there is nothing in the Egyptian records linking Ramesses to the Exodus, and indeed nothing at all in the records about the Israelites and their slavery.
When Moses killed the Egyptian, he fled to Midian for 40 years from Thutmoses II who was Pharaoh from 1498-1485 BC. He had a brief reign and then a sudden collapse with no son to succeed him. His widow Hatshepsut then became first Regent (for Thutmose III) then Pharaoh in her own right.
Thutmoses III was the Pharaoh of the Exodus who reigned 1485 - 1431 BC in three phases. The exodus occurred in Thutmoses III's 18th year of rule after his mother died. There is archeological support for the existence of Moses during the period of Thutmoses III.
The date of 1270 BC where Ramesses II was the Pharaoh cannot be validated by archeological means or biblical accounts.
To the issue of God sending an Angel to kill Moses.
Moses had been chosen to lead Israel out of Egypt, He was also instructed in the circumcision of his son as was all of Israel. In the account of Exodus 4:20-27 Moses did not perform the circumcision of his son which was a considerable sin to God in that Moses was chosen as the leader of the children of Israel and disobeying this sacred instruction is why God was going to be killed. Moses was spared because his wife circumcized her son and threw the foreskin at the feet of the Angel as described in the account. (The Bloody husband is the Lord who required the circumcision of Moses).
